Ventilation, ERV & HRV Systems

Ventilation service and ERV and HRV installation for Fort Bend County homes that need controlled fresh air without wasting energy.

A mechanical ventilation system brings fresh outdoor air into your home and exhausts stale indoor air in a controlled way. An energy recovery ventilator (ERV) or heat recovery ventilator (HRV) does this while transferring energy between the two air streams, so you are not simply pulling in hot, humid air or throwing away conditioned air. Lazarine AC provides ventilation service and repair and installs ERV and HRV systems for homes across Fort Bend County.

ERV vs. HRV

  • An HRV (heat recovery ventilator) transfers heat between incoming and outgoing air, which reduces the energy cost of bringing in outdoor air.
  • An ERV (energy recovery ventilator) transfers heat and also some moisture. In a humid climate, that means less of the outdoor humidity is carried into the house with the fresh air, which is why ERVs are frequently the better fit for Gulf Coast homes.
  • Ventilation service and repair keeps existing fans, dampers and ventilators moving the air they were designed to.

Signs your home needs better ventilation

  • Air feels stale or stuffy, especially in a newer, tightly built home.
  • Cooking, cleaning or pet odors linger long after they should clear.
  • Rooms feel stuffy when the house is closed up and full of people.
  • Humidity or condensation problems that ventilation and moisture control together need to address.

Fresh air and humidity go hand in hand here. Bringing in outdoor air without managing moisture can make a home feel muggier, so ventilation is often paired with a whole-house dehumidifier. Our guide on why a home stays humid with the AC running covers the moisture side.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to the most common questions about Ventilation, ERV & HRV Systems.

Still Have Questions?
What is the difference between an ERV and an HRV?
Both exchange stale indoor air for fresh outdoor air while recovering energy. An HRV transfers heat only; an ERV transfers heat and some moisture, which helps limit the humidity brought in with outdoor air.
Which is better for a home in the Houston area, an ERV or an HRV?
In a hot, humid climate an ERV is often the better fit because it reduces the moisture carried in with the fresh air. The right choice depends on your home and system.
Why would a home need mechanical ventilation?
Tightly sealed homes save energy but can trap odors, moisture and indoor pollutants. Mechanical ventilation brings in fresh air in a controlled way instead of relying on leaks.
